Well today we said goodbye to my younger brothers Sadie! We have had her a long time, she was a rescue and at least 13 years. Not sure who had her before, I do know that they abused her and we believe they usually had a hat on. More on that in a second.
Sadie recently got sick and while we aren't sure what that was they did find a mass in her. I don't think they ever really found out if the mass was cancer or not, however this was just over a week ago. We lost her really fast.
What I will always remember Sadie as the dog that was afraid of me for a long time because I wore a hat, usually a baseball cap. We think that her original owner abused her and usually wore a hat. When I would walk into my parents house and she would see me or when I went to pet her she would whimper and whine and be afraid of me. But if I did the same without the hat one she was fine. It sort of pissed me off that she was treated this way.
I took a while but we got her out of that, I mean a while. Like more than a year! What I had to do was remove my hat as I approached her or leaned down to pet her and love on her than put my hat back on. She eventually learned that the hat was ok and than she was safe.
Sadie Wadie I will miss you, you will always be in my heart!
See you on the other-side.
